Atlanpole, Land of innovation

Introduction

Vivalis Laboratory The life sciences in general (and biotech in particular) represent a extremely dynamic and federative sector throughout Atlanpole's territory. They account for 50% of Atlanpole's activity and are serviced by a dedicated team with experience of academic research, small and medium-sized businesses and the pharmaceutical industry. The biotech sector is experiencing exponential growth:

• 25 companies founded over the last 5 years. Nantes is the only area in France where the creation of biotech companies has not slowed down in recent years.

• A ten-fold increase in the number of labs and researchers over the last ten years. Nantes compensates for the absence of major industrial players by displaying exceptionally energetic start-up and spin-out activity.

• Stakeholder synergy: basic, applied and clinical research establishments (INSERM, CNRS, CHU, INRA, IFREMER, ENITIAA, ENVN, universities, etc.), companies, institutional stakeholders (the Metropolitan Area council, the Loire Atlantique county council, the Pays de la Loire regional council, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Nantes University Medical Center, etc.), management schools (Audencia, IAE Nantes). Check out the directory of technopole members.

• Highly attractive real estate opportunities: Atlanpole has been charged with promoting two business/research locations in the Nantes Metropolitan Area: the "Ile de Nantes" site and a life science/healthcare business park. These business/R&D parks are due to be developed around the Nantes University Medical Center's two sites, and represent more than 25 acres (10 downtown and 15 on the Laënnec site) dedicated to hosting life science labs, businesses and infrastructure.

• A European network of active collaborations with well-known clusters (Heidelberg, Cardiff, Oulu, etc..). Atlanpole is leading the AFIBIO program (linking 7 European partners), the goal of which is to facilitate access to finance for biotech companies.
