The “blue” economy in terms of recreational boating represents a major challenge for coastal local areas.
Marinas, which look out onto the ocean, are also ideal gateways for promoting and raising the international profile of a region, its coastline and hinterland as well as the welcome it extends to visitors in general. They are no longer simply places for mooring boats, but where boaters should be greeted with a friendly and helpful welcome from the moment they sail in.
Locating your berth, manoeuvring and mooring your boat are challenging and often stressful exercises. More effectively welcoming each visitor to the pontoon, helping them with mooring and meeting their needs will improve relations between harbour operators and boaters.
We invented the marina drone in this context of upgrading services in harbours. By harnessing technology, the yachting industry can diversify and free up operators from time-consuming, mundane tasks to devote time instead to strengthening their customer relationships.
